WHO ARE We

ABOUT LAKE STREET
SOLAR

Lake Street Solar is a mission-driven solar development company focused on bringing clean energy to underserved communities. We specialize in developing and constructing solar projects for local Black and Brown-owned businesses and nonprofits across the Twin Cities.

As a dedicated small team, we lead projects from concept to construction—managing development, financing, permitting, and execution. Our goal is to make solar energy accessible and beneficial to organizations that have historically been excluded from clean energy investment.

We’re currently focused on completing high-impact installations in 2025, with special emphasis on locations around Lake Street, where our work began and where our roots remain strong.

Solar arrays installed on 8 local BIPOC led or owned churches and businesses

10 additional churches and community-focused organizations under development in 2025

COMMUNITY SOLAR

HOW DOES IT WORK

Lake Street Solar and its investors will pay to install and operate the solar system on your roof, using a trusted local installer. There will be no upfront cost to you.  Lake Street Solar will maintain the system for the duration of the contract, which typically last 6-8 years depending on each individual business need.

You will sign a Solar Lease contract and pay for the solar power delivered to you – at a rate lower than what Xcel Energy charges you. The exact discount rate will be determined by which incentives you qualify for and receive.  After your contract is up, you will have the option to buy the system at a steep discount – likely less than 10% of the original cost of the solar project.
